Shelke family's political legacy
His elder brother late Sachin Balasaheb Shelke served as a councillor of Bharatiya Janata Party. He was the only councillor who served as the Deputy President and also the President of Talegaon Dabhade Nagar Parishad. Shri Sachin Shelke also served as BJP’s City President.
Shri. Sunil Shankarrao Shelke is an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 1997 and has got elected for two consecutive terms to the Talegaon Dabhade Nagar Parishad.

The begining
Talegaon’s first lady councillor Late Tanhabai Ranba Shelke
With a firm commitment towards Jan Sangh and RSS for generations, the great grandmother Late Tanhabai Ranba Shelke was elected as a candidate of Jan Sangh and did great work as the first lady councillor of Talegaon. She was elected unopposed. The Shelke family nurtures a close relationship with RSS.
1991
Bhimaji Bajirao Shelke elected as corporator
Bhimaji Bajirao Shelke of the same family was elected as a BJP councillor with a huge margin in 1949. Balasaheb Baburao Shelke also served as the councillor and city president on behalf of the BJP.
1997
Late. Sachin Balasaheb Shelke worked as City President
In 1959, Late. Sachin Balasaheb Shelke from the family became the councillor as well as the city president of Talegaon Dabhade Nagar Parishad.

Shri. Sunil (Anna) Shelke Elected as Corporator
Shri. Sunil (Anna) Shelke, who has been active in the BJP since 1997, was elected as a councillor to the Talegaon Dabhade Nagar Parishad in the year 2011.
